lugar had some problems, sure nrngs the state of indiana. but i heard it over and over again with the people i spoke with on the ground there. constituents that he deals with pretty regularly and i heard the three dreaded words about politicians -- out of touch. he never went back to the state. mourdock was popular, he was able to go around and resonate with the voters, take it out to the town hall type of forums and express what he wanted to do if he got to the u.s. senate and senator lugar wasn't ever back in the state. and to the point of not having centrist republicans in washington, i think it's less that on both sides of the aisle. i think we're losing a lot of statesman out there. i don't think we have enough folks who understand that the end of the day you have to govern something. yeah, i'm not going to shift on my core principles, i'll tinker around the edges but we have to move the ball forward. sadly, there are fewer and fewer of those types of statesmen on both sides of the aisle in washington, d.c. >> but what we have witnessed
